Lab-Grown Meat Is Here

Are You Paying Attention?

I've been making a real effort lately to buy more of my food from local farms. The more I pay attention to where my food comes from, the more questions I find myself asking about how it's produced.

One topic that keeps coming up? Lab-grown meat.

Most people don't realize cultivated meat has already received FDA approvals and similar technology is beginning to make its way into the pet food industry. Supporters say it could help meet growing food demand and reduce environmental impacts.

As consumers, we should understand what we're buying and how it's made. That's especially true when it comes to our pets. My advice is simple: read labels because our pets can't.

Don't rely on marketing claims or packaging. Turn the package over, read the ingredient panel, and stay informed about what's happening in our food system.

Personally, I'll continue supporting local farms and choosing real food whenever I can.
